Prescot Cables 2-1 Goole
Cables keep on the push for the playoffs!
Prescot Cables where able to welcome back into the team after long lay offs through injury and suspension respectively, winger Harry Cain and Captain James McCulloch.
The re-introduction of McCulloch couldnt have been more timely as the visitors started the game on the front foot with experienced ex-Doncaster Rovers forward Emile Sinclair leading the line. Cables' offside trap had already been sprung on a couple of occasions before it was broken once more in the 11th minute and Carl Stewart raced through and calmly slotted the ball through goalkeeper Ben Barnes legs to give Goole the lead.
The lead was to last only 10 minutes before Josh Klein-Davies received the ball centrally some 25 yards from goal, turned superbly and drilled the ball into the bottom corner to restore parity.
Klein-Davies' second goal on the hour, that which proved to be the winner was an equally clinical finish after he raced onto a through ball behind the Goole defence. A number of chances came and went for Klein-Davies to complete his hat-trick but he was unable to further test the Goole keeper Ben Saynor, meanwhile Cain also had a snapshot from the edge of the box deflected bringing a smart save from the keeper.
Goole persisted with a direct style of play and there was a scare for the home side in the closing minutes as Stewart made space for himself in the box and drilled just over the bar almost snatching a point for the visitors.
Cables next host Kendal Town this Saturday 10th March before the re-arranged visit of Everton in the Liverpool Senior Cup Quarter Final the following Tuesday evening, 13th March.
