In order to maintain our pitch we need a small army of volunteers to help cut the grass at Volair Park in order to provide the best possible surface we can for the lads to play on.
At the moment we are relying on 1 person to carry out all this work and it is just not fair and cannot carry on, if we could get just 5 volunteers to help cut the grass and strim the surrounding areas then this would make the job so much more manageable. This is now absolutely critical as the grass has only had 1 cut since the close of the season. The only person who has come forward to help is Andy Maggs and we are extremely grateful for him stepping forward, but he cannot do it on his own. Please spread the word to see if there is anyone out there that can help, maybe you know someone who has retired who can spare some time. Each cut of the pitch takes approx 3 hours so for 1 person to carry this out it is difficult especially if the person has a full time job.
We need people who can offer a couple of hours per week to come and carry out one of the tasks, as we approach the summer the grass will need cutting 2-3 times per week and the surrounding areas strimming once a week. In addition to the this the pitch needs feeding, seeding and watering on a weekly basis.
With a small number of willing volunteers this task becomes simple and manageable and we hope that some of our fans can come forward to assist.
Training will be given to willing volunteers.
if you can help even if it just for 1 hour per week the please get in touch with Steve Garnett.
