Prescot Town Council is undergoing a governance review, which will consider the continued existence of the Town Council and whether it continues to provide value and worth to the Town over and above what may be provided at a Borough Level by Knowsley Borough Council.
Our Town Council has existed since the 15th century and is part of our proud unique history along with Prescot Cables and other unique features that differentiate our town from other parts of the borough. Knowsley is a large borough with many competing needs and the Town Council continues to help formulate our own identity and to argue for the interests of our town and local community.
Prescot Cables has continued to benefit from the existence of the Town Council. In previous years we have been sponsored by the Council, they have supported our own continued existence and have been an ally in or most difficult times. Recently when facing recurring criminal damage and burglary attempts the council kindly awarded our club a Community Grant which enabled our purchase of a CCTV security system. Quite simply without that grant the system could not have been purchased.
In support of the Town Council the Club are making available a number of pre-prepared letters for sending to the Community Governance Review board, which argue in support of retaining a town council at Prescot.
The letters will be available for signing at the club at todays home match against Clitheroe. Please consider how our Town Council assists the football club and fosters a sense of local pride. If you agree with the letter then sign it and we will collate the letters and send them to the Review Board.
