Fundraising Game for W.I.C.H

4 months ago By Steve Garnett

Come along and have a great day out supporting a local cause.

This Sunday 31st July come down to Volair Park and have a great day out whilst watching some greats of our game.

Here's a little bit about the W.I.C.H Group

The W.I.C.H group was formed in 2005/2006 by a group of local residents from the Whiston area, who tried to save the old workhouse chapel, which once stood on the New Whiston Hospital Site.

The group were given all of the stained glass windows and some remaining artefacts from the original chapel; they were then faced with looking for land to build their dream on.

They were offered some land in Foxes Bank cemetery in Lickers Lane Whiston. They have had their ups and downs with planning, but now they have all the conditions passed and have got to a stage, where they can start the dream of building a Memorial building.

It will have a computerised Book of Remembrance, along with toilet facilities and somewhere for people to shelter from the bad weather.

The group have been working hard over the years doing lots of fundraising events, which with your help will continue.

They have been working with a local school who have designed their letter head, along with a banner to publicise what they are doing.

They are also working alongside local junior schools in Whiston, to devise a time capsule to place in the building, which will shortly be completed.

With the help of the President Roger Phillips they strive hard to get their story out across the Merseyside area. They have been very successful in getting Vinci Construction on board to help them project manage the work required. To date they have raised over £80.000. With the help from Vinci Construction they have laid footings and associated work.

After working so hard they now have steel work in place.

As you can see they have great plans in mind and when it is completed it will be a delightful place to go and remember a loved one.

Entrance for the day is only £5 for adults and Under 16's are FREE so please come along and give them your support.
